Corporate Social Responsibility & Sponsorships

As a leading life insurance company in Singapore, Prudential believes in preparing the community for the unexpected events in life. To commemorate our 85th anniversary, we have launched PRUcares – a community programme anchored on the principles of insurance, which is to provide peace of mind for people in times of crisis.

Beneficiaries of PRUcares get immediate financial support in the event that they are unable to work and lose income due to illnesses, accidents or death. The pay-out, in the form of cash and food vouchers, will help the beneficiaries and their families during medical and personal crises. The programme is fully funded by Prudential and is offered at no charge to the recipients.

PRUCares benefits low-income families drawing less than S$1,900 household income a month or individuals with a monthly income of less than S$650. According to the Department of Statistics Singapore, two per cent of resident households locally have a monthly income of below $1,000 and almost six per cent have a monthly income of between $1,000 and $1,999.

For a start, PruCares will be made accessible to around 300 eligible families from the AWWA Family Service Centre in a one-year pilot programme. AWWA is a local non-profit organisation that provides community-based services which range from special education for children and youths with special needs to healthcare services and caregiving support for families and seniors.

The Boys’ Brigade Share-A-Gift

Prudential Singapore has been the Presenting Sponsor of The Boys’ Brigade Share-A-Gift (BBSG) project since 2009. The BBSG is a national community service project organised annually by The Boys’ Brigade to spread the joy of Christmas to the less fortunate in Singapore.

Aside from cash sponsorship, the company’s staff and financial consultants are also actively involved in the packing of food hampers, delivering the hampers to the beneficiaries’ homes and adopting beneficiaries’ wishes. These gestures helped bring cheer to the beneficiaries and promote the spirit of caring and sharing among Singaporeans.

Prudential Singapore was an Official Sponsor for the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) from 2012 to 2014. Through this initiative, the Company endeavours to support Singaporeans’ growing interest in marathons and to help cultivate a greater sporting culture in Singapore.

The Company’s efforts to promote a healthy and active lifestyle were reinforced by an annual participation of about 150 Prudential staff in each marathon. In 2011, Prudential Singapore also raised money for the National Cancer Centre of Singapore (NCCS) through participation in the marathon.

The Cha-Ching Singapore School Tour

Prudential Singapore developed the Cha-Ching Singapore School Tour based on the first-of-its-kind animated musical edutainment series Cha-Ching, which Prudential Corporation Asia created in 2011 to promote financial literacy in the region.

The Cha-Ching Singapore School Tour teaches primary school children how to make independent financial decisions by using life-size game boards and an exciting, educational and interactive game to introduce four basic money management concepts – Earn, Spend, Save and Donate.

The Cha-Ching Singapore School Tour was taken to nearly 6,500 students in 2013 and 2014, as well as community organisations. It is Prudential Singapore’s second Financial Literacy Programme for children, following Know Your Numbers in 2010 and 2011.
