(Singapore - 25 July 2011)

Prudential Assurance Company Singapore (Prudential Singapore) celebrates 80 grand years here with a series of activities that revolve around the theme of “Giving Back to the Community”. Activities that range from a carnival which raised money for charity to scholarships for universities and a charity golf tournament have been planned with the purpose of benefiting society, particularly in the areas of children, education and health.

“We’re excited to be celebrating this grand occasion in Singapore. We’re grateful to the community and our customers for supporting us through the years and contributing to our success. Corporate Social Responsibility has always been an integral part of Prudential Singapore and the activities that we’ve organised to celebrate our 80th anniversary are our way of thanking Singapore for all the achievements and special moments that we have enjoyed,” said Kevin Holmgren, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Singapore.

A giant red heart which was formed by Prudential Singapore’s staff and members of the company’s agency force at the recent 80th Anniversary Prudential Carnival aptly embodied the spirit of giving that’s true to the company. The carnival that saw a 5000-strong crowd, was held on Saturday, 23 July 2011 at Changi Exhibition Centre. It was an exciting event that was organised specially for staff and agency force members, as well as their friends and families.

Carnival for Charity
All the proceeds from ticket sales for the Prudential Carnival are donated to the National Cancer Centre Research Fund (NCCRF). Additionally, the carnival also featured Art from the Heart - giant money banks in the shape of the figure “80” which were made available for carnival participants to add their creative personal touch with paint. The money collected in these money banks will also be donated to NCCRF.

Golfing for a Cause
Featuring sporting fun coupled with compassion, Prudential Golf Charity will be held on 27 September at Tanah Merah Country Club, Tampines Course, for Prudential Singapore’s partners and business associates. The proceeds raised from the day of golfing camaraderie will also be donated to NCCRF to benefit cancer research.

Supporting Education
Children and education have always been at the heart of Prudential Singapore’s CSR activities and this year, the company will be donating a total of $200,000 to benefit the education of youths. A sum of $100,000 each will be donated to National Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Management University (SMU) for scholarships for students.

Sharing with Boys’ Brigade Singapore
At the end of the year, Prudential Singapore will once again actively participate in the Boys’ Brigade Share-A-Gift charity event. The annual event aims to bring aid and cheer to the less fortunate over the festive period.

On top of all these activities, there will also be a customer promotion planned around children at the end of the year.

Prudential Singapore has always placed a strong focus on Corporate Social Responsibility. Following the natural disasters in Japan earlier this year, the company held a donation drive which raised a total of $80,676 for Red Cross Singapore, in aid of Japan. At the end of 2010, Prudential Singapore also sponsored the Know Your Numbers with Prudential financial literacy event for children. The programme was extended to a select group of primary schools across the nation this year.
