In Singapore, the number of people aged above 65 years is expected to rise to a staggering 900,000 by 2030. Meanwhile, government healthcare expenditure is expected to triple from S$4 billion in 2011 to S$13 billion in 2020, in order to support the healthcare needs of an ageing population3.
