Prudential's Out-of-the-box Fundraising Drive Inks History In Singapore Book Of Records

  • Prudential makes early contribution to The Boy's Brigade Share-a-Gift Project 2010 with cash donation of $18,346 and 2,500 bags of rice

(Singapore - 30 September 2010)

Prudential Assurance Company Singapore (Pte) Limited ("Prudential Singapore") held its annual agency event on 30 September 2010 and broke the Singapore Book of Records for the largest word formation, "Prudential", made from 2,500 bags of rice.

Almost all of Prudential Singapore's Financial Consultants, approximately 3,800 of them gathered for the annual sales rally event. Together with some staff involved in the event, everyone responded enthusiastically to the charity drive in the spirit of One Force, One Prudential - a resolute mindset which is exemplified in the unity displayed by the agency force and staff today. The company donated 2,500 bags of 2.5 kilogram pack of rice for the record-breaking exercise. In addition, cash donations were collected from the financial consultants in conjunction with this record breaking feat. The rice and proceeds from donations collected at the end of the event are donated to The Boys Brigade for its annual Share-a-Gift project (formerly known as The Boys' Brigade Sharity Gift Box).

The origin of this extraordinary effort is a strong corporate belief that Mr Philip Seah, Chief Executive Office of Prudential Singapore personally shares with many others among the agency force and staff - giving back to the society goes beyond monetary help.

"The goal of this charity drive was not only to jump start Prudential Singapore's commitment to this meaningful cause but also to encourage our agency force and staff to go beyond the call of duty in helping the less privileged in our society. This resonates well with our business philosophy, which is to help people to be financially secured," said Mr Philip Seah, Chief Executive Officer, Prudential Singapore.

As the Presenting Sponsor last year, Prudential Singapore donated S$100,000 to the Boy's Brigade Share-a-Gift 2009 which benefited 28,982 beneficiaries. Launched in 1988, the Boy's Brigade Share-a-Gift is also the longest running Christmas charity project in Singapore. This year, Prudential will continue to pledge its support, in terms of monetary support as well as staff and Financial Consultants contributing as volunteers, for the second year running.
