Prudential Golf Charity Raises $250,000 For NCC Research Fund

(Singapore - 30 September 2011)

Prudential Assurance Company Singapore (Pte) Limited (“Prudential Singapore”), one of Singapore’s leading life insurers aids National Cancer Centre Singapore’s cancer research efforts with $250, 000 that was raised for charity tournament Prudential Golf Charity. The event was initiated by Agency Force Alliance (“AFA”), a group of Prudential Singapore’s Agency Leaders, and supported by Prudential Singapore, as part of the company’s 80th Anniversary celebrations this year.

Held on 27 September 2011 at Tanah Merah Country Club’s Tampines Course, the charity golf tournament garnered the support of the company’s partners and business associates who generously participated as sponsors and donors. Featuring the Double Peoria Stableford format of play, the day of golfing excitement showcased the skills of more than a hundred participants and culminated in an elegant dinner that featured an array of attractive prizes.

“Prudential Singapore is always endeavouring to contribute to the community with Corporate Social Responsibility activities, particularly in the areas of children, education and health. An event such as Prudential Golf Charity which combines sporting fun and goodwill is a great way to drum up support. With this gesture, we hope to help National Cancer Centre Singapore’s efforts in the development of cancer treatment methods,” said Kevin Holmgren, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Singapore.

The tournament featured the support of Eastspring Investments (Singapore) Limited (formerly known as Prudential Asset Management (Singapore) Limited prior to 14 February 2012) as a Platinum Sponsor and Tote Board as a Gold Sponsor along with a host of silver and bronze sponsors. On top of that, Audi and Rimowa participated as hole-in-one sponsors, with a sleek Audi A7 and a suite of stylish Rimowa Titanium bags to entice skilled golfers.

After a day of sporting fun in the name of charity, guests were treated to an evening of highlights including the presentation of the cheque of $250,000 to Guest-of-Honour Professor Tan Ser Kiat, Group Chief Executive Officer of SingHealth. Professor Tan also helped to present the tournament prizes and tokens of appreciation. While no one walked away with the hole-in-one prizes, the top three players were awarded tournament trophies and attractive prizes and other guests won lucky draw prizes that ranged from shopping vouchers to golf bags and accessories.

As part of Prudential Singapore’s 80th anniversary celebrations, the company also organised the Prudential Carnival in July where all proceeds from ticket sales were also donated to NCC Research Fund. Furthermore, the company donated $100,000 each to Singapore Management University (SMU) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) for scholarships. At the end of the year, Prudential Singapore will also once again participate in the Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift charity event.
