Globally, although major progress has been made in access to education at the primary school level for both boys and girls, 103 million youth worldwide currently still lack basic literacy skills1 At Prudential, we believe that education is the most powerful tool we have to change the world. That is why we want to inspire and prepare people to succeed in a global economy. We do this by ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all through our education and financial literacy programmes.
The world is ageing rapidly with nearly two billion people across the world expected to be over 60 years old by 20501. In Singapore, the number of people aged above 65 years is expected to rise to a staggering 900,000 by 2030. Meanwhile, government healthcare expenditure is expected to triple from S$4 billion in 2011 to S$13 billion in 2020, in order to support the healthcare needs of an ageing population2. At Prudential, we want to help everyone achieve good health and well-being, enhance the quality of early childhood care and development, and support our seniors age-in-place. Ultimately, we understand that health is not just about treatment but also prevention, and in many ways helping everyone to live life well.
Prudential Career Switch Programme
A successful and sustainable development agenda requires partnerships between governments, the private sector and society.
The Prudential Career Switch programme is a year-long programme aimed at deploying Prudential’s employees to the social service sector while remaining on Prudential’s payroll. The purpose of this programme is to support social service organisations with people capabilities that are aimed at improving the lives of beneficiaries. We believe in empowering our employees to determine their own career paths, and providing them with a social purpose in a community-related role.
