What is SME Skills Accelerator (SSA)?


The SME Skills Accelerator programme is an industry-first programme, in partnership with SkillsFuture Singapore that aims to equip SMEs with the skills and resources to grow and innovate their business, by upskilling and reskilling their employees.

What is the SME Skills Accelerator Programme?

The SME Skills Accelerator Programme is an industry-first collaboration with SkillsFuture Singapore to help SMEs upskill and grow their business.

Why is Prudential doing this?

Is my SME eligible for this Programme?

The SSA programme targets SMEs which are pro-actively looking to upskill and grow.  

Under the Enterprise Singapore definition, participating SMEs:

  1. must be incorporated in Singapore
  2. have a group annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million and
  3. group employment size of not more than 200 employees

Participating SMEs can be from any industry.

Why should my SME join this Programme?

Our dedicated Skills Advisers will support SMEs by providing one-on-one advisory and consultation, to equip employees with skills required for their business growth.

These include:

  • Training needs analysis
  • Recommend courses and training programmes

With Prudential, you will have access to complimentary training and masterclasses in but not limited to Workplace Learning, Digitalisation and Design Innovation, organised in conjunction with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs).

How much will this cost?

Employees of SMEs who are Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) are eligible for course fee subsidies of up to 90% for SkillsFuture-approved courses.

Our Skills Adviser will be able to advise on the exact costs before embarking on any training programme.

In addition, we also organise several complimentary sessions for SMEs to join as part of the SME Skills Accelerator (SSA) Programme!

Will there be additional subsidies when my staff attend courses during office hours?

Absentee Payroll Support (as of 12 September 2022)

SkillsFuture Singapore will provide funding at SG$4.50 per trainee hour (capped at $100,000 per year per company).

Can I withdraw from this programme after signing up?

We strongly encourage you to complete the programme.  To support you in this, we have also linked up with various universities and polytechnics which will be able to support mid-career interns to help you apply your learnings in your SME and accelerate business growth. 

If there are unforeseeable circumstances that make it difficult or impossible for you to continue the programme, our Skills Adviser will be able to advise and guide you on the appropriate next steps.

Who should I make payment to?

Payment will be made directly to the course provider after course fee subsidy (if applicable).

Your Skills Adviser will be able to guide you.

Prudential does not collect any payment or profit from this initiative.

Is there a cap as to how many employees we can send?

Enterprises can support as many employees as they wish through the programme.

Note: Some of the programmes are more relevant for team leaders or functional leads. Also, some programmes are complimentary while others are chargeable. Our Skills Adviser will guide you on this in your one-to-one meeting after programme enrolment.

If I am not able to attend the entire programme, can I attend selective modules?

Attending the complete programme is highly recommended, however, attending selective modules is possible too. You may work with our Skills Adviser for this.

How is the SME Skills Accelerator different from other programmes offered by other organisations?

The SME Skills Accelerator is an industry-first collaboration between SkillsFuture Singapore and Prudential, co-created with 80 SMEs over 50 different industries.  It is, at its core, a practical upskilling programme designed to kickstart business and digital innovation, to accelerate business growth.  Prudential will further support SMEs by providing access to complimentary digital tools for workplace learning and sector specific mid-career interns from our partner institutions.
