Diabetes Care Programme
For policyholders eligible under PRUPanel Connect, more value-added services are available.
How does the Diabetes Care Programme (DCP) work?
Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood glucose. If left untreated, diabetes can lead to serious complications, including vision loss, kidney damage, nerve damage, and cardiovascular disease*.
The DCP is a 6-month programme that consists of three GP consultations with standard medications and a primary care network team to track and guide your progress. During the three consultations, an electrocardiogram (ECG), diabetic counselling, additional eye and foot screenings, and blood and urine tests will be provided.
At Prudential Singapore, we aim to be your trusted partner in preventive healthcare by providing access to early intervention through Chronic Care Management.
How much does the Diabetes Care Programme cost?
Lipid Test*, Blood Sugar Test*, Blood Pressure Test and Body Mass Index (BMI)^ Assessment
A blood sugar test will be done, which involves a pinprick on the finger to extract a small drop of blood to test for blood sugar. Should your blood sugar test result appear elevated, you may then decide to proceed with the Diabetes Entry Screening Test.
Your blood pressure and lipid test will also be taken. If it exceeds the normal range, you may then decide to proceed with the Hypertension Care Programme. or High Cholesterol Care Programme.
^If your BMI exceeds the normal range, the nurse will refer you to a GP for further follow-up as appropriate.
Should your blood sugar test result appear elevated, you will be offered a diabetes entry screening test (HbA1c). An upfront payment of S$15.00 nett is payable at the clinic.
HbA1c is a blood test to diagnose diabetes, conducted at your preferred clinic. Test result will be available at the same clinic within two working days (excluding public holidays and weekends).
If your blood sugar level remains high, you will be offered to enrol in the 6-month Diabetes Care Programme.
Depending on the result of the HbA1c blood test, a dedicated nurse under the Primary Care Network team will discuss the results with you and offer the DCP accordingly. The cost of DCP for Singapore citizens is not more than S$350.00 nett. Raffles Medical Group will apply the relevant government subsidies (HealthierSG, Primary Care Network, etc.) before submitting the bill for MediSave assessment. Customers will only pay the balance after all subsidies and MediSave deductions have been made.
For Singapore Permanent Residents, do check with the clinic for the relevant subsidies. Foreigners do not receive any government subsidies, but the cost will not exceed S$500.00 nett. Please refer to the FAQs below for more details.
