7 sugar/calorie-free and refreshing drinks for the festive season

As the festive season rolls around, we’ve put together some suggestions for drinks that are not only crowd favourites with our friends and family, but also low in calories and sugar!

Fresh mint tea
A refreshing drink ideal for anyone that doesn’t enjoy the taste of plain water. You can add ginger, green tea or lemon for more flavour. You can replace the mint leaves for peppermint or spearmint. Enjoy it warm or add ice cubes if you want to enjoy it cold. You can keep in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Calming chamomile lavender mint tea
If your nerves are on the edge, try this drink. At only 7 calories per drink, you can enjoy it guilt-free. Increase the serving size of the dried chamomile, lavender and mint leaves. Combine and store in a jar. Scoop 2 teaspoons for every cup of hot water.

Tummy smoothing tea
A very low calories drink, with 7 calories per drink it will help smooth your stomach after the feast. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to five days. Reheat or enjoy cold. If you want to do a large batch: Increase the serving size of the dried mint leaves, coriander and fennel. Combine and store in a jar. Scoop 2 teaspoons for every cup of hot water.

Sparkling pomegranate limeade
With only 13 calories per cup, this is the perfect drink to serve during your family or friends’ (small) gathering. This drink is best enjoyed immediately but can be refrigerated for up to four days. For best results, add sparkling water just before serving.

Sugarless virgin mojito
If the day is hot and calls for something refreshing, try this drink. Only 40 calories per cup, this will be another hit to surprise your guests during this season (and beyond). If you don’t have aloe juice, just add more lime juice.

Lemon water
Virtually zero calories at 3 for every cup, this easy to prepare and don’t require much prep. If you prefer fizzy drinks make it with sparkling water instead. For extra flavour garnish with extra lemon slices.

Ginger mint tea
If you like ginger and the refreshing mint, this drink is perfect for you, and has only 9 calories per cup. For more flavour add lemon. If you don’t have mint use spearmint. Have it warm or cold.
