Diabetes Care Programme

All PRUShield policyholders can book an appointment here to request for Blood Sugar Test, Blood Pressure Test and BMI check at any of the 37 Raffles Medical clinics in Singapore at no cost. It is mandatory to fast from midnight before the appointment date to yield more reliable results.

The Blood Sugar Test involves a pinprick on the finger to extract a small drop of blood. This is used to measure your blood sugar level. Should your Blood Sugar Test result appear elevated, you will be offered a Diabetes Entry Screening Test (HbA1c). HbA1c is a blood test to diagnose Diabetes, conducted at your preferred clinic. Test result will be available at the same clinic within two working days (excluding public holidays and weekends)

If your BMI exceeds the normal range, the nurse will refer you to a GP for further follow-up as appropriate. If your blood pressure exceeds the normal range, you may then decide to proceed with the Hypertension Care Programme

Depending on the result of the HbA1c blood test, a dedicated nurse under the Primary Care Network team will discuss the results with you and offer the DCP accordingly.
The 6-month DCP includes a pre-consultation and three GP consultations with standard medications and a primary care network team to track and guide your progress. During the pre-consultation, an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood and urine tests will be provided before you attend your first diabetic counselling session. The test results will be reviewed by the GP during the first consultation. Each GP consultation will include a capillary blood glucose test and a 2-month supply of standard medications. On the third GP consultation, you will be advised on future treatment options. A final 2-months' supply of standard medication will be provided to you, and this will conclude the 6-month DCP. However, during the 6-month DCP, you will undergo Diabetic Counselling, additional eye and foot screens which can take place at any of the consultations.

All medical information of policyholders obtained under the Diabetes Care Programme are confidential and Raffles Medical Group will not share the policyholder’s medical records or test reports with Prudential Singapore.

The DCP is offered to all PRUShield policyholders. PRUShield policyholders may submit an online appointment request for the Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure and BMI at any of the 37 Raffles Medical Group clinics once every calendar year.

Should your Blood Sugar Test result appear elevated, you will be offered a Diabetes Entry Screening Test (HbA1c).
Depending on the result of the HbA1c blood test, a dedicated nurse under the Primary Care Network team will discuss the results with you and offer the DCP accordingly.

Policyholders who have been previously diagnosed with Diabetes/Hypertension and are undergoing treatment with a GP will not be eligible as they would already be on existing medication prescribed by their attending physician. The DCP and/or HCP can only be utilised once and policyholders who have previously participated in DCP and/or HCP will not be eligible to re-enrol.

If your blood pressure exceeds the normal range, you may decide to proceed with the Hypertension Care Programme. If your BMI exceeds the normal range, the nurse will refer you to a GP for further follow-up as appropriate.

In addition, PRUShield policyholders will be entitled to a 10% discount on non-standard medications.

Fasting from midnight before the appointment date is mandatory, to yield more reliable results. If you are taking regular medications, please continue to take them as prescribed, but only with water.

The first GP consultation will be arranged upon collection of the ECG, HbA1c, Lipid and Kidney blood test results. Thereafter, at the end of each GP consultation, the clinic nurse will assist you to book your next appointment.

You will receive two SMS^* which will be sent to you upon confirmation of your appointment at your preferred Raffles Medical Clinic.

Unfortunately, walk-in appointments are not available for Diabetes Care Programme To better manage waiting times for our policyholders, an online appointment must be made via the Prudential PRUPanel Connect website.

Yes, you can use MediSave for the DCP. MediSave benefits are applicable only for Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents, subject to MediSave balance and withdrawal limits, where co-payment is required. The clinic staff at Raffles Medical will assist you with the filing of the MediSave claim.

Please note that Singapore citizens are also eligible for additional subsidy for the DCP. Singapore citizens enrolled under Healthier SG signed up at the RMG clinic are also eligible for additional subsidy for this programme.
Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents who are not using MediSave as well as Foreigners will need to make full payment during the pre-consultation.

There is no charge to undergo the Blood Sugar Test, Blood Pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) Assessment as this is eligible for all PRUShield policyholders. Should your Blood Sugar Test result appear elevated, you will be offered a Diabetes Entry Screening Test (HbA1c), an upfront payment of S$15.00 nett is payable at the clinic.

Depending on the result of the HbA1c blood test, a dedicated nurse under the Primary Care Network team will discuss the results with you and offer the DCP accordingly. The cost of DCP for Singapore citizens is S$350.00 nett, with a co-payment of S$50.00 and the remaining $S$300.00 can be deducted from MediSave, subject to balance and withdrawal limits. Singapore citizens enrolled under Healthier SG signed up at the RMG clinic are also eligible for additional subsidy for this programme.

As Singapore permanent residents and foreigners do not receive any government subsidies, the cost will be S$500.00 nett. Co-payment is applicable for policyholders using MediSave funding, subject to MediSave approval. MediSave benefits are applicable only for Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents. Yes, you may use your MediSave to pay for your parents or your other dependents’ DCP incurred at the Raffles Medical clinics. Please approach the Raffles Medical clinic for more details on the eligibility criteria and the application process.
