Re-imagining 100 examines the pandemic’s impact on Singapore residents as they live longer lives. This series looks at the pandemic’s impact on longevity and covid-19’s impact on Singapore residents’ well-being; provides a deep dive on the financial impact of the pandemic; and examines the pandemic’s impact on healthy ageing.

To explore more about the struggles of financial planning amidst a crisis, it has been discovered that Singapore residents’ financial situations have deteriorated due to the pandemic. This has caused a shift in the residents’ personal financial strategies, which include actively managing their portfolios and diversifying their holdings. This has led to a change in mindset on the adoption of accepting greater risks to enhance their long-term returns. To dive deeper into the impact of the pandemic on longevity, it has been discovered that there is no deterioration in physical health among Singapore residents, except more so for the age group of 35-54.

However, studies have shown that the population’s mental health presents a different picture, with stress and anxiety likely to be the main causes. According to the research, the worsening mental health stems from the isolation, loss of contract with friends and family and their economic fallout. Severely impacting the younger generation which led to a dip in their mental health.
